The part nobody warns you about

Your shins flake. Your forearms look like paper. And your skin feels tight the moment you step out of the shower.

So you shower a little longer, a little hotter. It gets worse. You put on lotion and an hour later it's gone.

You didn't get careless. Your skin changed — fewer lipids, less water, a barrier that repairs more slowly. That's biology, not hygiene.

Nobody told you the soap you've used your whole life was never made for this skin.

What it does

Four jobs, one bar

OneMatched to your pH

Pressed at pH 5.5, not the 9–10 of ordinary soap.

TwoFresh all day

The difference

Alkaline soap, and a bar at skin's own pH

How it's built

Three decisions, and what each is for

01

A syndet bar, not soap

Real soap is saponified oils at pH 9–10. This is pressed synthetic detergent at pH 5.5 — the change with the most evidence behind it for mature skin.

02

The moisture stays in

Glycerin, jojoba and ceramides are left in rather than stripped out, so the lather cushions and skin feels soft after rinsing.

03

Freshness that lasts

Washes odor away and leaves a light, clean scent — deliberately not a heavy perfume, which irritates dry skin and fades by noon anyway.

Mature hands holding the wet bar

Designed for the hands that use it

A bar you can actually hold

Wide, flat and rounded, so it sits in the palm instead of shooting across the shower floor. No stiff caps, nothing that needs a fingernail.

A draining dish ships with every order — a bar sitting in its own puddle turns to mush in three weeks.

The bar with persimmon, oats and jojoba oil

Every ingredient, and its job

Nothing in here we can't explain

Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate

The syndet base. Cleans at pH 5.5 instead of the 9–10 of saponified soap.

Glycerin

Left in the bar, not stripped out. The main reason skin feels soft instead of tight.

Ceramides

Lipids naturally in skin's outer layer, scarcer in mature skin. The wash gives some back.

Jojoba Oil

Keeps the lather rich, so it rinses clean without the squeaky, over-washed finish.

Niacinamide

Supports a smooth, even-looking skin surface.

Ectoin

A natural osmolyte used for its water-binding behavior. Leaves skin cushioned.

Panthenol

A humectant that leaves skin soft and comfortable after rinsing.

Colloidal Oatmeal

Finely milled oat, used for generations on dry skin for its soothing feel.

Persimmon Extract — described honestly

Persimmon tannins show deodorizing activity in laboratory testing against ammonia and sulfur compounds — in vitro, not on human skin. Plenty of brands stretch that into a claim about body odor and age. We won't.

What to expect

A promise you can actually check

First wash

No tight feeling

You step out and your skin isn't pulling. Hours later you still smell fresh.

Weeks 1–2

Shins and forearms soften

Where dryness shows first is where it eases first. Less flaking, less roughness.

Weeks 3–4

The rough patches settle

Not a mirror test — a touch test. Elbows, knees and shins after a month of daily use.

If you're buying it for someone else

The hardest part was never the soap

It's saying something to someone you love without them feeling accused. Every order ships with the words to do it.

How To Talk About This

A card written to be read without anyone feeling judged. It explains the biology first — so you don't have to say anything.

When it isn't cosmetic — see a doctor

A change in body odor can be a treatable medical sign. Talk to a physician if you notice:

  • A sudden or marked change in body odor
  • A fruity or acetone-like smell — urgent
  • An ammonia-like or bleach-like smell
  • A sweetish, musty smell with confusion or yellowing skin — urgent
  • Odor from one skin fold, with redness or brown patches
  • Odor from a wound or a sore
  • Odor with weight loss, fever or new confusion

Straight answers

The questions people actually ask

Is this just an expensive bar of soap?
It isn't soap, technically. Soap is saponified oils, which lands at pH 9–10 — well above skin's own. This is a syndet bar: synthetic detergents pressed at pH 5.5. A systematic review of 63 studies (Lichterfeld-Kottner et al., Int J Nurs Stud, 2020) found syndet and pH-adjusted cleansers beat standard soap on dryness in aging skin. That's the whole reason it exists.
Will it dry my skin out like the last one did?
That's the failure mode we designed against. Glycerin, jojoba and ceramides stay in the bar, and the pH sits at 5.5 rather than 9–10. The AAD also recommends short lukewarm showers and moisturizer within three minutes of stepping out — the bar does its part, the routine does the rest.
Will I actually smell fresh all day?
That's what it's built for. It cleans odor away in the shower and leaves a light, clean scent rather than layering heavy perfume on top — strong perfume irritates dry mature skin and burns off by midday anyway.
Why not just use the soap I already have?
Because it was designed for everyone. A bar for all skin types has to work on oily twenty-year-old skin too, which makes it more alkaline and more stripping than mature skin needs. Skin after 50 pays the highest price for a general-purpose cleanser.
Is this one of those products that tells older people they smell?
No, and we'll be direct. The best research points the other way: in a controlled study across age groups (Mitro et al., PLOS ONE, 2012), the oldest group's odor was rated the least unpleasant of all six. The idea that one compound makes older people smell comes from a 2001 study funded by the company that created the category — and an independent lab (Gallagher et al., Br J Dermatol, 2008) couldn't detect it in any subject. We sell a better bar for skin that got drier. We're not in the shame business.
How long does one bar last?
Four to six weeks of daily use for one person. It's pressed specifically not to turn to mush — a fair complaint about bars in this category — and every order ships with a draining dish.
I have eczema or another skin condition. Can I use it?
This is a cosmetic cleanser, not a treatment for any medical condition, and we won't claim otherwise. If you're managing a diagnosed condition, ask your dermatologist first — and bring the ingredient list, which is on the carton and on this page in full.
What if it doesn't work for me?
60 days, and you keep the bar. One email and we refund the order in full — no return shipping, no form, no questions.

One last thing

There's a version of this product that sells faster than ours. It tells you people your age smell, that a compound is responsible, and that a bar of soap fixes it before anyone notices.

We checked that claim. An independent lab couldn't find the compound in a single subject, and the best study on how people perceive age and body odor found the oldest group was rated least unpleasant of all. So we won't sell you that story.

What we'll sell you is a bar built for one kind of skin instead of all of them — soft instead of tight, a clean scent that lasts the day, and a shower that stops working against you.
